Where Urdu Literature Lives

Adab Khana is a digital home for Urdu poetry, poets, and prose — built for readers who feel the weight of a well-placed word.

Urdu is one of the world's most lyrical languages — shaped by centuries of poetry, devotion, loss, and longing. Adab Khana exists to ensure that this literary tradition is not lost to time or geography. We bring together the classical masters and contemporary voices, making their work accessible to readers everywhere, in both Urdu script and Roman transliteration.

؎ شعر میرے بھی ہیں پُر درد مگر میرؔ کے بعدکس کو آتا ہے سخن میں وہ درد و سوز

— میرؔ تقی میرؔ

Our Story

Adab Khana began with a simple frustration: the internet had no single, well-designed space where Urdu poetry could be read, explored, and appreciated properly. The great diwan of Ghalib, the raw grief of Mir, the devotional fire of Rumi's Urdu interpreters — all scattered, poorly formatted, or hidden behind interfaces that felt nothing like the dignity of the literature itself.

We set out to change that. Adab Khana is built by people who love Urdu — not just as a language, but as a living tradition. Every design decision, every feature, every carefully placed word on this platform reflects a deep respect for the poetry it carries.

This is not just an archive. It is a gathering place — an adabkhana, in the truest sense of the word.

؎ آتے ہیں غیب سے یہ مضامیں خیال میںغالبؔ صریرِ خامہ نوائے سروش ہے

— مرزا غالبؔ

“These themes come to mind from the unseen — Ghalib, the scratching of the pen is the voice of the divine.”
